Pregnancy Massage

A massage when you are pregnant is invaluable due to its calming and relaxing effects. The rhythmic and gentle techniques performed by the therapist help restore the body to its natural calm state.

There are many benefits to a pregnancy massage:
• Relaxation
• Relieving stress
• Reducing anxiety
• Reducing hip pain
• Reduce swelling
• Enhance circulation
• Reducing tiredness
• Relief from muscular tension

The relaxing massage focuses on Back, Neck, Shoulders, Arms, Hands, Hips, Legs and Feet but can be adapted to suit individual needs and areas of suffering.
Pregnancy massage can be booked after the 12 week scan has taken place and can be continue to happen throughout the pregnancy.

Should I inform my Doctor / Midwife?
You must consult with your midwife / Doctor first if you are suffering with high/ low blood pressure, anaemia, extreme swelling, epilepsy, diabetes or a cardiac disorder.

Are there any total exclusions from having a massage?
It would be in your best interest not to have a massage treatment if you are suffering from, Pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, low placenta, fever or high temperature, undiagnosed lumps or bumps and before your 12 week scan.

What oils do you use?
I use Grape seed oil which is perfectly safe to use when you are pregnant.

What can I expect within my first appointment?
First a detailed consultation will take place, which will take approx 20 minutes then if you are experiencing no medical contraindications then a relaxing 45 minute massage will take place. If you are experiencing any medical problems then further advice from your midwife will be needed.

So why not treat yourself or a loved one to a rejuvenating massage. A perfect gift.

A happy and relaxed mum is a relaxed and happy baby.
